We’re delighted to welcome one of the UK’s finest voices – Cara Dillon to headline Festival of Folk 2015. Cara is a great interpreter of traditional Irish music, as well as a superb songwriter in her own right, and with husband and collaborator Sam Lakeman. She has won countless folk awards, received critical acclaim from all areas of the music industry and along with her band is a top live performer. This will be a very special show.
Also performing as part of our evening show is young folk singer Luke Jackson. Luke has been plying his trade on the acoustic circuit all over the UK since the age of 12. Through countless live shows and superb song writing he was nominated for both the BBC Horizon Award for Emerging Talent and the BBC Young Folk Award. A fixture on the festival circuit, Luke is one of the brightest young folk talents in the UK today.
The Jigantics are a constantly in demand live band all across the country, mixing folk, blues and good old fashioned rock and roll to create a sound and energy which will have your feet tapping from the first song to the last. Comprising some of the top session musicians on the circuit, they are a superb act and the ideal band to kick the evening show off!
Headlining our afternoon theatre show is BBC Folk Award winner Blair Dunlop and his band. Blair has been in the entertainment industry from an early age as both an actor and musician. The release of his widely praised debut album ‘Blight and Blossom’ catapulted him to the forefront of the folk scene, where he has gone from strength to strength both as a recording artist, and most notably – a brilliant live performer.
Darren Black has over the last 10 years carved out an enviable reputation on the folk scene highlighted by his lyrical prowess and exemplary playing both on guitar and fiddle. A real Artree Live favourite and a great addition to the theatre line up.
Fred’s House are making people sit up and take notice on the roots scene in this country. Based in Cambridge and mixing elements of Folk, Blues, Country, Classic Rock and US West Coast with a definite vintage feel to their music, they echo the 70’s but create a fresh new sound that is very much part of now. These guys are one to watch and worth the entrance fee on their own. A fantastic way to open our theatre show.
